Jimmie Buryl McAlvain was born on June 23, 1938, in Anadarko, OK, the son of Lawrence Huse and Marella (Atchley) McAlvain. He graduated from school and married the love of his life, Ann Amanda Pace on August 11, 1956 in New Mexico. Together, they raised three sons and one daughter. Jim was an Auto Sales Professional. He spent fifty-plus years in the automotive sales industry in both Oklahoma and Arizona. First of all, he was a family man. He loved the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. When he wasn't working, he was an accomplished horseman and adored any day spent team roping, racing or breeding horses. He enjoyed a good western, especially John Wayne, and was equally proud of his Choctaw heritage. Jim had the kind of personality that lit up any room he walked into. His vibrant personality and winning smile will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was of the Christian faith and was called home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 19, 2009 in Tahlequah, OK. Those preceding Jim in death include his parents, his beloved wife Ann Amanda in 1986, and his brothers, Pete, Dick, and Joe McAlvain. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving children, David and wife Lynn McAlvain of Tahlequah, Dan and wife Beth McAlvain of Olive Branch, MS, Dick and wife Tina McAlvain of Collierville, TN, and Dorinda and husband Nick Davenport of Broken Arrow, OK. Jim's legacy also lives on in the lives of his grandchildren, Chase and wife Rachel McAlvain, Coy and wife Stephanie McAlvain, Courtney McAlvain, Callahan McAlvain, Conlee McAlvain, and Luke Davenport; his three beloved great grandchildren, Kooper, Lydia, and Cash McAlvain, and three adored brothers, Bob and wife Ann McAlvain, David and wife Sylvia McAlvain, Johnny McAlvain and sister Kay McAlvain, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones. Services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2:00 PM at First Assembly of God Church in Tahlequah. The family will be having a formal visitation on Wednesday, April 22, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel. Services have been entrusted to Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
