Sudden Death of Daniel Achenbach
Death came very suddenly last Thursday to an old and highly respected citizen of this place. At his farm, one mile south of town, Mr. Daniel Archenbach was engaged in hauling feeder from the field to the barn. Mr. Kinder was in the mow, and Mr. Archard was pitching from the wagon. Only a few fork fulls had been pitched when the work suddenly ceased. Looking down from the mow, Mr. Kinder was surprised to see Mr. Achenbach stretched at full length upon the fedder (?) , and examination showed that he was dead. he had been subject to slight attacks of heart disease, and doubtless the violent exertion of pitching the heavy bundles of fodder produced the fatal result.
Mr. Achenbach was 68 years old, and had resided in this immediate victinity nearly all his life. He was a well known and highly respected citizen, of modest and retiring disposition and upright life. he leaves a wife and four children, the funreal was held Saturday and a very large assembled of relatives and friends paid the last tribute of subject to a worthy man.
Daniel Acherach was born in Wayne county, Indiana 5 march 1831 and died 19 Jan 1899, aged 67 years, 10 months and 14 days.
The deceased came wit his parents, brothers, and sisters to this county in the early of 1884, and settled in the banks of Cicreco creek, near what is known as Mt. Pleasant church. Where he passed his last days is the farthest way he ever resided from the place where his parents settled, which distance was ony 2 1/2 miles, covering a period of 61 years. He was married to Susan Correll on the 10th of November, 1853, which union blessed them with seven children, six daughters, and one son. Three daughters died before his death into the next world. Father, Mother, six brothers_____________sorry I can't read some words but there is no names for children, just say brothers, sisters, daughter in law to mourn the sudden departure of a kind and dutiful husband, a dear loving and most affectionate father who was always ready and willing to do anything for his children and theirs.
