Larry was the son of John Levi & Letti Pearl (Black) Adcock and my mother's cousin. He married Ruth Bushnell in Eldred, Greene Co., Illinois on Dec. 14, 1947. They were the parents of two children, Marilyn Cordes of Carrolton and Dennis Adcock of Eldred, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Adcock graduated from Carollton High School with the Class of 1939 and served his country in World War II in the U. S. Army. He farmed in Eldred until his health no longer permitted it. At that time, he and Ruth moved into Carrollton where they have been living for the past 17 years. His loving wife and care-taker for these past years survives him.
Larry was a member of the Hardin American Legion Post, a 56 year member of the Eldred Baptist Church having the title of Deacon Emeritus, a member of the Greene Co. Farm Bureau, a Road Commissioner for Bluffdale Township, and drove a school bus for the Carrollton School District.
He is preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kearstin Adcock; a son-in-law, Randy Riggs; a daughter-in-law, Becky Hardaway Adcock; seven sisters: Iva Laird, Alma Miller, Loraine Winters, Opal King, Mary Baker, Dorothy Custer, and Margaret Adcock; and three brothers: Henry Hershel Adcock and John Franklin Adcock.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wed., May 10, 2006 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Visition continued on Thurs. from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. at the Eldred Baptist Church. Burial was in the Eldred Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Adcock, Steve Adcock, Marvin Stumpf, Terry Cordes, Dan Eifermann, and Jerrid Custer.
Honorary Pallbearers included Cindy Adcock, Jackie Cooper, Susan Wray, Glen King, Greg Harding, Michelle Cordes, Tony Lakin, Scott Wray, Jom Custer, and Greg Olmstead.
Memorials may be made to the Eldred Baptist Church or the Greene Co. Health Dept.
Larry was a kind & honorable man who was loved by everyone.
