Angelina Elena Arellano, 89, of Woodland died in her home on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Angelina was born in Orange County on May 1, 1923, but had lived in Woodland for the past 69 years, where she worked for Contadina Cannery, Hunts Cannery, and as a seamstress for old Hertels and McKinny's clothing stores in Woodland. She was also a member of Woodland's Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Angelina lived in Orange County until she was 9 years old, when she moved to Mexico, and returned to the United States in 1941. She met her husband, Arcadio, on New Year's Eve in 1944, and they were married nine days later and remained married for the next 67 years, living in Yolo County where they raised their family.
She enjoyed being with her family, entertaining her friends and liked singing, dancing and playing the guitar and cooking. She was the State Menudo Cookoff Champion in 1986, when it was held in Southern California.
Angelina is survived by her husband of 67 years, Arcadio Arellano; daughters Linda and husband Steve Rose, Maria Elena and husband Richard Gil, Yolanda and husband Julio Cota; sons Hector and wife Donna Arellano and Jesus Arellano; 12 grandchildren, Steven T. Rose Jr., Terry Arellano, Christopher Rose, Marisela Anguay, Augustin Cota, Evangelina Navarrette, Julian Cota, Diego Cota, Abel Gil, Danielle Arellano, Joaquin Gil and Raul Gil; and eight great-grandchildren, sister Otilia Mejia and brother Pablo Guizar. She was preceded in death by a son Jose Luis "Joey" Arellano.
