Edna Earl Boyd gently entered Heaven on June 24, 2005 to be with her heavenly Father and to be reunited with her beloved husband. She was born October 19, 1928 to the late Ross Reeve Bell and Edna Almede Tyler Bell in Terrell.
Edna was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church for several years. This gracious lady attracted the eye of E.R. (Russell) Boyd when she was just a young woman, to which he preceded dating her until she became his bride on July 31, 1947. Russell knew from the first time he saw her, this was the love of his life and these two lovely people proved their love through their union of five children. Their love for each other grew for 50 wonderful years, of which they celebrated until they were separated by his death on December 24, 1997.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell Scott and Cathy Boyd; her four daughters and son-in-law, Sharon Kay Boyd, Darla Anna Whitley, Shelia Janeace Young and Kimberly Dawn and Donald Brown, all of Terrell; nine grandchildren, Shannon Whitley and Ron Gardner of Dallas, Sean and Cynthia Whitley of Allen, Shannon Whitley, Courtney Boyd, Zachary Boyd, Zane Boyd, Christopher Brown, Donovan Brown and Hannah Young, all of Terrell as well as other relatives and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Holton Ross (Beau) Bell and her sister, Imogen Bell Pinter.
From the time of her infancy and throughout her life, Edna has been called, "Tootie, Hootie, Smokey, Tottsie, Eddye, Hun, Mother and MaMaw," and she answered to all of them endearingly. She was always there whenever asked. Edna served as a Den Mother through her son's years in Boy Scouts as a Room Mother throughout all of her children's school years and was also an Activities Director for Rose Hill Convalescent Home and later with Terrell Care Center. She was also known for her gracious style and flair - what she wore matched - if something was out of place; she did not go anywhere until it was fixed.
This lady lived her life as a true steel magnolia - forever firm, forever beautiful.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Brother Bob Price officiating. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery in Black Jack.
