Albert L. Allen, 75, of Oskaloosa, died Thrusday, May 16, 2002, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born August 20, 1926, at Lamoni, Iowa, the daughter of John and Dorothy Quick Harpe. She attended Lamoni High School. On November 15, 1942, she was united in marriage to Robert G. Allen in Missouri, and he died December 6, 2001. They moved to Oskaloosa in 1947 from Lamoni, She was a homemaker and an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (now the Community of Christ) in Oskaloosa. She was also a member of the Womens Church United and Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary. She enjoyed raising flowers and doing ceramic work.
Alberta is survived by a son and his wife: David (& Julia) Allen of Omaha, NE; a daughter and her husband: Charlotte (& Ed) Balensiefen of Henry, Illinois; a daughter-in-law: Nancy Allen of Lewiston, Maine; 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a half brother: Richard (& Norma) Sorenson of Omaha, NE; and 3 sisters-in-law: Nina Konaposek, Betty Hines and Carol Keen all of Lamoni.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents: a son: Garland "Butch" Allen; and her grandmother who raised her, Margaret Quick.
Funeral services for Alberta Allen will be held Saturday, May 18, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with Elder Wade Schelker officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Lamoni. Visitation will begin Friday after 1:30 p.m. and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Friday 6 ? 7:30 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice.
