Veteran of Vietnam War

James Leroy Adams was born November 24, 1946 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Harold and Ruby W. Adams. He died on July 7, 2007 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 13 days.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July11, 2007 at Ft Sill National Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday evening fro 7-9 PM at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home.

Mr. Adams served 4 years in the Marine Corps after graduation from high school. He received a Purple Heart while stationed in Viet Nam. Mr. Adams later enlisted in the Army where he spent 6 years before being Honorably Discharged as a Sgt with a service related disability. For the next 20 years, he drove a cab here in Lawton, a job he enjoyed and performed with a smile and friendly manner his customers grew to appreciate.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

He is survived by his daughter Brenda Champeau of Lisbon, IA and her children McKenna & Noah; sisters, Jean Waschkat of Waterloo, IA, and Frances Peters of Casa Grande, AZ; and his former wives, Vicki Murphy of Hiawatha, IA, and Kassie Wear of Lawton.
