FROM A LETTER WRITTEN BY BERENIECE FREELAND HUTCHINGS, GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER OF
WILLIAM AND EDITH EVERETT ALLISON, FEB. 1995:
"William Allison (b. 1794-died 1854) was born in Hardin County, KY. He was married (first) to Eliza Lewis). Seven children were born. She died in 1831 and in 1832 he married Edith (Blackman) Everett. Coles County, Ill. history says she was born in Wayne Co., NC. She was living in Washington County, Ind. when they were married. Wm Allison and first wife had moved from Ky to Washington Co., Ind. in 1825. Seven children were born to William Allison and Edith Everett Allison. Wm. Allison (B. 1794) was an itinerant Methodist preacher and studied medicine and was licensed to practice medicine in 1832. In 1833 Dr. Allison and family moved to Etna, Coles Co., Ill. where he practiced medicine until his death in 1854. Etna, Ill was settled by a group of Methodists, so perhaps that is why the Allsions moved there.
