Raymond James Guite, 88 of Blackhoof died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 in Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake. He was born April 17, 1918 in Duluth to Alfred and Cecelia (Schimnowski) Guite. Ray attended school in Duluth. He was a Navy veteran serving his country during WWII. Ray married Jeanette Pringle on December 24, 1944 in Duluth. He worked for Greyhound Bus Lines as a mechanic until 1951. In 1952 he began working at the Wrenshall Oil Refinery until retiring in 1982.
Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. He was a great story teller. In later years, he enjoyed his flowers, especially roses.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanette; sons, Michael (Georgia) of Cloquet and David (Joan) of Barnum; daughters, Diane Paschal of Dallas, Texas and Linda (Don) Ginn of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal pal, Satchell.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 31, 2006 in Elim Lutheran Church in Blackhoof. Burial was in Elim Lutheran Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Carlton VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
