Adeline Sophia Habhegger, of Blackhoof Township, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton.

She was born July 28, 1920, in Mahtowa, the daughter of Arnold and Minnie (Swenson) Selen. She attended Riverside School through the 8th grade was a 1939 graduate of Carlton High School.

Adeline married William Habhegger on Sept. 20, 1939. She was a homemaker, sold Avon and Rawleigh Products, and was a member of the Carlton County Farmers Market selling homemade crafts and baked goods. Adeline was a 4-H leader for many years, was a member of the Relax Homemaker Club and a former member of the Moose. She was a member of A.A. since 1966 and helped established the Alano Club serving as the club treasurer for many years. She enjoyed dancing, knitting, sewing, crafts and gardening.

Adeline was preceded in death by an infant son Paul; and a brother Ellsworth Selen.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years William of Carlton; one son Dean (Barbara) Habhegger of Barnum; four daughters Nona Thornblad of Hinckley, Karen Morabito of Bedford Hills, N.Y., Penny (Alan) Keay of Barnum and Nichal (Tim Vener) Habhegger of Duluth; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; one step-brother Ray Spangle of Bradenton, Fla.; and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in Elim Lutheran Church, Blackhoof. Spring interment will be at Elim Lutheran Cemetery. If preferred, memorials may be made to the Alano Club, Cloquet, Minn.
