Arthur G. Ahern, 83, died Feb. 14, 2012 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Fort Pierce, Florida.
He was born in Boston, raised in Charlestown, Mass., and lived in Port St. Lucie, Fla., after many years residing with his family in Andover, Mass. He was a graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in education and a Master's Degree in education from Boston State.
He was a World War II veteran who served in the Marine Corps. After his military service he went to college on the G.I. Bill then began a long career as a teacher, principal and administrator with the Boston Public Schools. He finished his career in the mid 1980s as a director of the Title I program.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Ahern.
