Mary Jane Allison
Mary Jane Beckett was born in this (Daviess) county March 25, 1822. She died at her home near Loogootee, Ind., May 15, 1899, aged 77 years, 1 month, 20 days. She was married to William M. Allison on Nov. 16, 1857. To this union three children were born. Theodore, the oldest died May 15, 1875. Ida the youngest died June 3, 1887. Mary, the second child and Wm. M. the husband are the only survivors of the family. Of the Becket family sisters and brothers of the deceased there remain living John Beckett and Laura A. Hixon of this county, Robert Beckett of Oceola, Iowa and R. T. Beckett of Topland, Kan.
Mar. Allison was stricken with paralysis July 6, 1895 and since that time has been a helpless invalid. The physicians were skillful and untiring and the neighbors assiduous in their attention to her, so that everything possible was done for the relief of the suffering (?).
She made all arrangement having anticipated death fro sometime and was resigned to the will of God and passed away in the presence of her Redeemer with out a murmur. She became a member of the Baptist church at Mt. Olive in her young womanhood and was a valued and efficient member until her death.
She was married on November 16, 1856 in Daviess County, Indiana to William M. Allison. The obituary is in error.
