Samuel M. Aiello, of York Springs, passed away November 15, 2009, in Mechanicsburg.
Born April 12, 1926, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Fillipo and Marianna (Abate) Aiello.
Samuel graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School, Class of 1943, and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He later worked as a systems analyst for the New Cumberland Army Depot and his job took him twice overseas to Vietnam to monitor the new Hawk Missile System.
Samuel was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, was past president of the Lions Club in York Springs, and was a member of the Dillsburg and Harrisburg VFW Posts, the West Shore Elks, the American Legion Post 143, and the Italian Lodge in Hershey. He also attended the Metropolitan Singles Social Club for many years and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren with trips to Hershey Park and the circus.
Surviving are his companion, Mary Jane Arnold of New Cumberland; his sons, Michael J. Aiello of York Springs, David P. Aiello of Camp Hill, James Aiello and Robert Aiello of East Berlin, and William Aiello of Lemoyne; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Juliette "Judy" Miceli of Mechanicsburg.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Buchinsky and Lena Kolvic; and by his brothers, Joseph, John, and Frank Aiello.
Interment was in East Berlin Cemetery.
