Edna Faye Aker, beloved mother, wife, daughter, and most of all, grandmother, passed quietly on Aug. 11, 2011, in Houston TX. Edna celebrated her 92nd birthday on Aug. 5, 2011. She was born in Verden OK on Aug. 5, 1919, to Edward and Loie Cornett. She attended Linwood Elementary School, Taft Junior High School, and graduated in 1938 from Classen High School in Oklahoma City.
Edna married Autie A. "Ty" Aker, the absolute love of her life, in 1939; and they remained together for 59 years until his death in 1998. They had two sons: Tommy Gerald and Joe Charles. She had one grandson, Jimmy Gerald Aker; great-granddaughters Kenzie, Jessica and Kaylee; and great-great-granddaughter Daisy. The joy of Jimmy's family, including his wonderful wife Kim, brought many hours of pleasure to her. The loss of Tommy to cancer this year was a crushing blow to her, but she continued to treasure him in all of her thoughts especially when talking with his wife Clara of Kingston OK.
She is survived by her sister Pat Ash and brother Jack Cornett, both of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her brother Buster Cornett and sisters Dorothy Cornett and Gertrude Cassidy.
She was a big Oklahoma and Oklahoma State football fan and never missed a Houston Astros game on television. She traveled through life treating others with the kindness and love of a great and gracious lady. All who met her loved and treasured her quiet presence.
