Floyd WELLS, 84, of rural Clay City, died at 2:50 p.m., Friday, October 8, 1993, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 11, at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Clay City. Burial was in the Wright Cemetery. The Reverend Brad HARRIS officiated at the services.

Mr. WELLS was born on Oct. 15, 1908, in Clay County, the son of Alvin and Ida (GREGG) WELLS. He married Opal WRIGHT in 1930. He was a self-employed logger, and a member of the Clay City Saddle Club.

Surviving are his widow, Opal WELLS of Clay City; four sons, Harold, Richard, and Allen WELLS, all of Clay City, and Robert WELLS of Mt. Gilead, OH; four daughters, Betty EDWARDS of Sailor Springs, Freida YOUNG of Clay City, Doris CRESS of Effingham, Jeanetta DAUBS of Fairfield; one brother Harry WELLS of Olney; three sisters, Jo Ann FULK of Noble, Lucille COOK of Farina, and Grace WILLIAMS of Olney; thirty-nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.
