Funeral Mass for Joseph Abram, 82, a Glen Carbon resident 45 years will be said at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia's Catholic church, Glen Carbon. Mr. Abram, a retired machinist and coal miner, died Saturday at 10:55 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, where he had been a patient five weeks.
He was born Aug. 15, 1880 at Troil, Italy, a son of Daniel and Rose Abram. He married Mary Dalpez of Glen Carbon on April 30, 1923 at Granite City. Mr. Abram had been employed about 40 years as a coal miner.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Joseph of Uniontown, Pa., and Albert of Inglewood, Calif., four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters. Two of Mr. Abram's brothers had been Monks in a religious order in a monastery at Baltimore, Md.
Friends may call at the Lesley Marks funeral home until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Paul Hebenstreit will officiate at the final rites. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery.
