The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson, June 21, 1994Alice L. Breck dies; was musician and wife of car dealer
Alice L. Breck, wife of Tucson car dealer Bill Breck, died Friday of a heart attack at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was 76.
Alice Breck was a homemaker and a musician. "She was many, many things," Bill Breck said. Alice Breck played the piano, organ, violin and cello with quartets and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, said daughter Carolyn Goebel. During a concert in Tucson, band leader Lawrence Welk, a friend of the family, asked Breck to accompany him on the organ. She received a standing ovation, Goebel said. Goebel was unsure when her mother appeared with the orchestra or Welk.
Breck was also a member of the Southern Arizona Hiking Club and volunteered with the Arizona Opera League, a group that raises money to help aspiring opera singers pay for college.
The Brecks moved to Tucson from Bozeman, Mont., in 1951. Both were born in Montana and wanted to live in a warmer climate. They moved to Tucson after their three children came down with pneumonia.
In addition to her husband and daughter, Alice Breck is survived by sons W. Dan Breck Jr. and Joe Breck, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Tucson; brother Robert Enevoldsen, of Woodland Hills, Calif.; and sister Bernice Wright, of Portland, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Catalina Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Road. The family asks that donations be made to charity.
