On Feb. 5th,1880 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma G. Little. His boyhood days were spent on the farm, and also several years of his married life. In April, 1898, he moved to Vandalia where he resided until his death. During his residence in Vandalia he served the people of the county as deputy clerk in various county offices, and for a term as superintendent of the County Farm. He was an effcient official, and by his courteous acts and genial manner made a wide circle of friends.
No children were given to this home but into their home they took two children and reared them to manhood and womanhood, viz, Joe Wright of Vandalia and Beatrice Shephard Grandfield, of Decatur. Besides his widow he leaves on half brother, Henry Alexander of Johnson City, Ill., and many friends to mourn his departure. He was a firm believer in the doctrine of salvation by Grance through the atoning merits of the blood of Christ, and upon this rested his hope of eternal life.
