Wilma Atchison, 83, formerly of Whittington, died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, in St. Mary's Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Whittington, with the Rev. Bob Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday to the funeral home. Mrs. Atchison was born on June 11, 1916, in Franklin County, the daughter of Fred and Ada (Shockley) Duff.
She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church in Christopher.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Shumate of Atlanta, Ga., Sharon Atchison
of Fort Worth, Texas, Sheila Brown and husband Norman, Marion; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Atchison, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.
