VARNA, IL - Virginia Mae Coleson, age 86, formerly of Varna, passed away at 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at ASTA Care Center in Toluca, Ill.
She was born April 10, 1923, in Varna, a daughter of the late Elmer and Ellen (Carlson) Walin. She married Richard Coleson on Dec. 31, 1941, in Varna. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2003.
One brother, Dean Walin, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Sanger of San Diego, Calif.; two granddaughters, Julie (Terrance) Yee and their children, Darren Yee and Natasha Yee of Littleton, Colo., and Denise (John) Weinstein and their children, Jackson Weinstein and Jillian Mae Weinstein of Charleston, S.C.; and two brothers, Willis (Mary) Walin and Norman (Jean) Walin, both of Varna.
Virginia farmed along with her husband in the rural Varna area for more than 35 years.
She was a lifetime member of the First Lutheran Church of Varna, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, with the Rev. Wendy Popp officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services, and burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery No. 2, Varna.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Varna and/or Alzheimer's Central Illinois Chapter.
