He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Jean (nee Mueller); children, Cynthia Abel, Laura (Bradley) Pell, Ruth Grams and William Abel; grandchildren, Andrea and Bobby Grams and Zachary and Emily Harrison; sister, Betty McElroy and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bradley Grams and brother-in-law Robert McElroy.
Bud was a WWII Army veteran and a ham radio operator. He was a member of VFW Post 7452 of Montgomery and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Bud also retired from Burlington Northern Railroad after 42 years.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, August 27, 2007 at St. Pauls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in which they will establish a scholarship in Bud's name, benefiting nursing students.
