Marilyn Ruth Beaumaster, 79, died Feb. 3, 2014, at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Community, St. Marys, after a three-year battle with malignant mesothelioma.

She was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Litchfield Ill., to Emmett and Marie Jordan.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, retired Lt. Colonel James F. Beaumaster, U.S.A.F.
Also surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Beaumaster and Caroline Grim; a son-in-law, David Grim; three grandchildren, Landon Grim, Mattie Grim, and Jake Grim; a brother, Karl Jordan; a sister, Kathleen Whitworth; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Francis Jordan, Earl Jordan and Paul Jordan, and a sister, Maureen Jordan.

She graduated from Farmersville Illinois High School in 1952 and completed her registered nursing certificate at Saint John's Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., in 1955. She worked as a staff surgical nurse at Saint Johns and as a psychiatric nurse at Grandview Hospital in Dayton. Throughout her life she traveled extensively, both as the wife of an Air Force officer as well as for pleasure. She spent 30 years as a docent at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, a volunteer job she loved dearly. She also was very active in the Wright Patterson Air Force Officers Wives Club, book clubs, and the Retired Wives Club. She moved with her husband to Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Community, first to the Lebanon campus in 2003 and then to St. Marys in August 2008.

She thoroughly enjoyed her life. She loved to do crossword puzzles, read, travel and attend her grandchildren's sporting and school events. She was truly loved by everyone in her life and she will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Maurice Cemetery, Morrisville, Ill.
Calling is 1-3 p.m. Friday in the Meyer Community Chapel, Otterbein, and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home West Chapel, St. Marys.
