Peter C. Andrews, 83, of Lincoln died Friday, March 28, 2003, at 6:25 p.m. at the Christian Village.
Mr. Andrews and his wife owned and operated the GEM Restaurant in Lincoln for 39 years, and he served as mayor of Lincoln from 1984 to 1988.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born Aug. 20, 1919 in Porrovitsa-Akrata, Greece, to Costa and Katherine Rufogales Androutsopoulos. He married Josephine Danosky on Oct. 12, 1946, in Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors are three sons, George (and Sandra) Andrews of Peoria, Michael (and Kathy) Andrews of Springfield and John (and Debbie) Andrews of Lincoln; one daughter, Kathy (and Earl) Kirshner of Chicago; six grandchildren, Theresa C. Andrews, Gregory A. Andrews, Aaron M. Andrews, Anthony M. Andrews, John Thomas Andrews and Julian Kirshner; two brothers, the Rev. John Androutsopoulos of Pittsburg, Pa., and Panos Androutsopoulos of Porrovitsa-Akrata, Greece; and two sisters, Athanasia Pampouki and Eleni Nikolopoulou, both of Porrovitsa-Akrata, Greece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tom Andrews and Spiro Androutsopoulos.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Lincoln Council 1250, Lincoln Elks Lodge 914, Lincoln AMVETS 71, American Legion Post 263, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756, Forty et Eight, Lincoln Railer Booster Club and was active in the Lincoln baseball program.
Mr. Andrews was lovingly surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of the American Legion or for Masses for deceased family members.
