KEWANEE - Allen R. Anderson, 78, of Kewanee died at
6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Kewanee. The Rev. Steven Bird will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 28, at the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. The rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. Dominic's Catholic Cemetery in Wyoming, Ill.
Memorials may be directed to his church or Abilities Plus.
He was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Charles L. and Georgina Anderson. He married Helen L. Cox-Collins on Nov. 11, 1948, in Weybron, Saskatchewan. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2002.
He is survived by two sons, Robert (Margaret) Anderson of Eureka, Ill., and Richard (Leanna) Collins of LaFayette, Ill.; a daughter, Patricia (Harold) Kermode of Princeton, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, C.E. "Pete" (Vera) Anderson, Darreld Anderson, Donald (Daphne) Anderson and Bruce (Darcy) Anderson, all of Canada; four sisters, JoAnne Mrozek, Dorothy (Ron) Primeau, Grace Johnson, and Dianne (Bud) Ostapui, all of Canada; and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S.A.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Irene; and four sisters, Audrey in infancy, Ruth Schmidt, Beverly Anderson and Linda Braileen.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he had been an usher for many years. He was a member of the Flemish-American Club and Henry's breakfast club.
He had farmed in the Neponset and LaFayette areas.
