OTTAWA — Paul E. Aussem, 74, of Ottawa, died Saturday, April 17, at Ottawa Pavilion.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kipfer, of St. Columba Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Ottawa Funeral Home oversaw the cremation.
Paul Aussem was born Nov. 11, 1935, in Ottawa, to Ermin and Helen (Rossiter) Aussem.
He spent his career in sales designing employee incentive programs and planning meetings for companies. He worked for E. F. MacDonald Company and the Carlson Marketing Group before starting his own firm, the P.E. Aussem Company. His business required him to travel the world but he called the Chicago and Kansas City areas home before returning to Ottawa upon his retirement.
He is survived by one son, John (Mandi) Aussem of Palatine; two daughters, Paula (Craig) Scheevel of Winona, Minn., and Nancy (Dave) Harrington of Gurnee; six grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Battistelli and Phyllis Smith, both of Ottawa; and his friend, Mary Riley of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Joseph.
