DURAND - Funeral services for Merle K, Anderson, 77, of 15813 Anderson Road, a former Illinois state representative who died at 7 p.m. Monday in Medina Nursing Home, Durand, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Timothy Sersen and the Rev. Ronald E. Massen of Bethel Lutheran Church in Brodhead, will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Run Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the McCorkle Funeral Home.

He was born on March 22, 1904, in Laona Township, Illinois, the son of Andrew and Anna Sweningsen Anderson. He lived on the same farm where he was born.
Mr. Anderson married Emma Johnson in 1941. She died. He married Lucille M. Gummow on Nov. 28, 1971. As a farmer he specialized in purebred Holstein cattle. He was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church here, former president of the congregation, and was the oldest confirmed member of the church, having been confirmed in 1918.
Mr. Anderson served five terms in the Illinois House of Representatives from the 33rd and 35th districts before retiring in 1974. The committeees he served on included agriculture and transportation. He was on the Illinois Transportation Study Commission. He was a member of Winnebago County Board of Supervisors for more than 20 years and chairman of the board from 1954-55.
Mr. Anderson was a former member of the executive board and third vice president of the National Association of Counties, chairman of the executive board and legislature committee of the Illinois Association of Supervisors and County Commissioners, president of the Winnebago County Fire Protection District from 1943-62, and a member of the Winnebago County Housing Authority from 1965-66.
After attending local schools, he attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Ella Holmes of Durand, Nellie Anderson of Durand, and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
