PEORIA - Luz A. Aguirre, 84, of Peoria died at 9:39 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Portesuello, Mexico, a daughter of Damian and Ana Aguirre Garcia.
Surviving are two brothers, Jesus Garcia of Peoria and Jose Luis Garcia of Guadalajara, Mexico; three sisters, Josefina Garcia Hernandez of Barstow, Calif., Matilde Garcia de Viallobos of Los Angeles, Calif., and Maria Garcia de Avina of Guadalajara, Mexico.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
She retired from the housekeeping department of Methodist Medical Center.
Luz was a volunteer for PCCEO foster grandparent program, with her most recent volunteer location being at Methodist Family Childcare. She volunteered for the Foster Grandparent Program from March of 2003 until November of 2005.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria. As a devout member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Luz established many lifelong friendships. She considered many as her extended family.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria. The Rev. Attilio Morelli will officiate. Visitation will be from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to her church.
