Edna Belle Backs, age 87, of Louisville, IL passed on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at her home in Louisville, IL.
Edna Belle was born Thursday, December 1, 1927 in Du Bois, IL, the daughter of the late Raymond Summers and the late Emma (Overturf) Summers. On September 15, 1946 she married Harry "Dale" Backs in Louisville, IL. Dale preceded her in death on April 27, 2011.
She was employed by the city of Louisville as the first librarian and was active in the meal on wheels program. She was also the bookkeeper for Summers Appliance and Skelgas and was a member of the Lousville Christian church where she served at Sunday School teacher for many years.
Edna Belle is survived by daughters, Pamela Dulaney (Alan) Huff of Flora, IL and Annette (Bill) Garrity of Clementon, NJ; daughter-in-law, Delma Backs of Lawrence, KS; sister, Carolyn (Dale) Rowe of Georgetown, TX; 7 grand children; several step-grandchildren; 14 great grand children and many step-great grandchildren; she is also survived by her dear friends and neighbors, Jim and Carole Lilly.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, son, Dale Eugene "Sonny" Backs; infant brother, Raymond Summers; sister, Jacquelyn Rowe; and infant sister Sylvia Summers.
Arrangements are being handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2015. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at J. W. Neal Funeral Home. Interment will be in Old Union Cemetery, Louisville, IL.
