He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Freeport Submariners/VFW.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Mary (nee Kovats); son, Michael (Debbie); daughters, Marie (Joel) VanStee and Lynn (Vince) Jankiewicz; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd., with a Scripture Service at 3:30 p.m. Monday.
