ALEX - Mrs. Edith M. Alex, 79, formerly of rural Winnebago, died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday May 15, 1976, in River Bluff Nursing Home, after a long illness. Born Nov. 17, 1896, in Chicago, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson. Lived 56 years in the Rockford area, coming here from Chicago. Married to the former Clarence G. Alex in Chicago, June 14, 1919. She was a charter member of Bethesda Evangelical Covenant Church.
Survivors include: a son, John F. Alex, Winnebago; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Lightfoot, Denver; four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Predeceased by her husband July 7, 1963. Also predeceased by two brothers, Roy and Reuben Johnson.
Services at 1:30 pm. Monday in the Bethesda Evangelical Covenant Church with the Rev. Theodore E. Franklin, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial in Burritt Community Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilbur Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave. Friends may call at the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of service Monday.
