Robert "Bob" E. abernathy, age 68, of New Douglas, Il., born October 14, 1943, in East St.Louis, Il., died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Christian Northeast Hospital, Jennings, Mo.
Bob was a proud 50 year member of Laborers Local 100 Past Democatic precinct committeemen. He was a member of American Legion Caseyville, Il. and VFW, Staunton Post 1241. Bob was a Vietnam Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth, nee Macovey, Abernathy; his brothers, James Abernathy, Jr., and Ronald Abernathy, Sr;, and a sister, Mary Ann Reay.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Abernathy; four son's, Curt (Angie) Abernathy of Collinsville, Il., Troy Abernathy of Livingston, Il., Sean (Angie) Abernathy of Livingston, Il., and Trent Abernathy of Staunton, Il; his grandchildren, Blake, Mia and Ava: Hailee, Troy Jr., Cassidy and Connor; Sean Jr, Michael and Ty; Austin and Rebecca; a brother, Walter Abernathy of Caseyville, Il; three sisters, Patricia Smith of Mobile, Al., Rita (Gerald) Poser of West Fork, Ar. and Joan Shannon of Smithton, Il; he was a dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many.
Memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 1: P.M. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, Il. with Father Clyde Grogan officiating. Interment will be Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Il.
