Benjamin F. Adkins, 70, died June 9, 1964 in the Woodlawn Nursing Center at Mt Zion. Funeral services were conducted in Decatur with burial in Monticello Cemetery.
He was born in Bement on May 7, 1894 a s/o Charles Adkins (1863-1941) and Dora E. Farrow Adkins (1869-1944). On April 15, 1947 he was married to Pearl B. Jones (1896-1962) who died February 4, 1962. He leaves two stepo-daughters: Mrs. Dobert Barnett and Catherine Benton, both of Lovington; a stepson, Lloyd Dodd of Decatur; four sisters: Mrs. Ella Campbell, Monticello; Mrs. Ruth Shirey, Decatur; Mrs. Martha Wallbaum, Springfield and Mrs. Mary Rigan, Bloomington; and two brothers: Roy S. of Montclair NJ; and F. Howard, Springfield.
He was a veteran of World War I; member of the Bement Methodist Church; and Castle-Williams American Legion Post. He retired in 1960 from the A. E. Staley Co., Decatur after 38 years with the company.
