Clifford J. Ahlrich, 90, of Monticello, died August 28, 1999 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello. Graveside services were held August 30 at Monticello Cemetery; military rites were accorded by Hamm-Burke American Legion Post 101.
Mr. Ahlrich was born January 29, 1909 in Piatt County, s/o Albert and Bertha Trimby Ahlrich. He married Agnes Brooks (1910-2008) on August 24, 1946 in Springfield. She survives along with a son, Phillip of Monticello; and three brothers: Ray of DeLand; Robert of Decatur; and Willard of Michigan and Stewart FL. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Mr. Ahlrich was a woodworker. He was a 1928 Monticello High School graduate and attended the University of Illinois. He served in the Army artillery and tank divisions during World War II in the Pacific Theater, including the Phillippines and Japan. He was a member of the United Methodist Church; a member and past commander of the Hamm-Burke American Legion Post; and a longtime member of the Monticello golf course. Memorial contributions may be made to Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
