WOODHULL, IL - Sharon A. Agar, 64, of Woodhull, died at 8:45 PM Sunday, May 10, 2009 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.

She was born November 14, 1944 in Galesburg the daughter of Donald and Maxine L. Johnson Stromsted. She was raised by her mother; Everett Hart; and her grandmother, Nellie Johnson. She married Woodbury S. "Woody" Agar III on May 3, 1978 in Aledo. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1996.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Melissa A. Agar and Julie D. Agar, both of Galesburg, a step daughter, Elizabeth A. Hartwick of Taylor Ridge, a step son, William D. Agar of Las Vegas, her fiancée, Leonard Cooper of Woodhull, 3 grandsons, a granddaughter, a sister, Shirley Miller of Rockford, a cousin, Danny Wilmoth of Des Moines, and a niece, Rose Cooper.

She was preceded in death by a step son, David S. Agar on December 31, 1979.

Sharon worked for Galesburg School District 205 as a crossing guard at Gale School for many years. She also worked for the Red Cross in Galesburg and Affina in Peoria. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1963 and attended Northern Illinois University. She was raised in Bethel Baptist Church and lived most of her life in Galesburg. Sharon was involved with the Prairie Players in the 1960's and 1970's and was active with the Knox College Faculty Wives. She was a pencil and charcoal artist and also designed her own cross stitch patterns.

Graveside service will be 2:30 PM Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service from 4 to 5 PM Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prairie Players.
