EAST PEORIA, IL - Florence H. Achterberg, 94, of Fondulac Woods Health Care Center, formerly of 2708 W. Marquette St., Peoria, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Born April 11, 1905, in Hollis Township, Peoria County, to John and Agness Zimmer Genda, she married Edward Achterberg on June 17, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa. He died in 1979.
Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, James of New York City; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
A seamstress, she made wedding gowns and wedding party dresses for many years.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Endsley Funeral Home & Cremation Center, where visitation will be one half-hour earlier. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
