James Castor died on Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lou Jelly, where he had made his home for the past four years. His death was due to dropsy and age.
He was born June 11, 1836 in Newcastle PA and came to Seymour in 1881.
He married Mary Lower in Indiana. She died Oct 2, 1916. They were the parents of 13 children, five of whom are dead. The living are: Charles & James Castor, Wichita KS; Mrs. Alice Schmear, Leigh IA; Peter Castor, Ft Dodge IA; Ed Castor, Fonda IA; James Castor, Mahomet; Mrs. Mary Jelly, Fisher and Mrs. Lou Jelly; also 49 grandchildren; 26 gr-grandchildren; and three gr-gr-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at the M. E. Church. Burial was in the Ingram Cemetery near Centerville.
