SCALES MOUND, Ill. -- Erma E. Petsche, 83, of rural Scales Mound, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Midwest Medical Center, Galena.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Scales Mound, with the Rev. Chris Kuhn and the Rev. Everett Hiller concelebrating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3to 8 p.m. today at Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Scales Mound, where there will be a rosary at 3 p.m.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1924, in North Buena Vista, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Margaret (Wagner) Bauer. She attended country school in North Buena Vista.
She married Marvin A. Petsche on Aug. 27, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Buena Vista.
Erma enjoyed quilting, genealogy, gardening, whittling, woodworking, farming, driving a tractor, baking -- if Dad didn't eat it all first -- and canning.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and friends. Erma loved to go morel hunting, fishing, hunting and occasionally checking the bee trees for honey.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish at Apple River.
Surviving are her husband, Marvin; nine children, Charles (Lois), of Stockton, David, Pat (Wanda) and Steve (Nancy), all of Lena, Mike (Bonnie) and Donnie, both of Scales Mound, Ron (Carolyn), of Warren, Susan Petsche, of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Jean Gratz, of Cuba City, Wis.; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anita Sheean, of Scales Mound.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John; a grandson, Neil Petsche, son of David Petsche; four brothers; and a sister.
