Herbert "Herb" Bible, 83, of Louisville, IL died June 27, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Bible was born March 11, 1921, in Clay County, the son of John R. and Ruth Headlee Bible. He married Mary Young June 6, 1938.
He was a retired farmer, a member of United Methodist Church in Louisville, and Clay County Farm buereu, where was a past board member, and he was a World War II Veteran.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Bible; three daughters, Jean Walker, Vicki McGee, and Sharon Nelson; a brother, Robert Bible; a sister, Wilma Sparling; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at Neal Funeral Home in Louisville with burial in Floral Garden of Memories in Flora.

ACTIVITY DURING WWII
ENTERED SERVICE ON OCTOBER 7, 1944. TRAINED AS A SUPPLY CLERK AND TELEPHONE OPERATOR. SAW COMBAT IN THE RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH TWO BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. DISCHARGED HONORABLY AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 22, 1946.
