Marilee Maxedon Hancock, 75, of Mattoon, died 2:45 a.m. Monday (Oct. 16, 1995) in her residence.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon, with the Rev. Terry Sapp officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in French Cemetery near Allenville. Memorials: Gays Christian Church or Lincolnland Hospice.
Mrs. Hancock was born March 20, 1920, in Allenville, the daughter of John Logan and Carrie Elizabeth Spaugh Chaney. She was a member of Gays Christian Church, Gays. She was a former employee of Brown Shoe Co. and Mattoon Garment. She married Lawson Maxedon in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1947. She married Joseph Hancock in 1969. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Surviving are her son, Dave Maxedon of Mattoon; stepson, John Hancock of Windsor; daughters, Carol Lawson and husband Don of Windsor; Cecelia Janes and husband Robert of Mattoon; brother, Ralph Wayne Chaney of Allenville; sisters, Ernestine Brown of Windsor; June Fleshner and husband Troy of Sullivan; Delores Marshall of Bethany; Shirley Chaney of Charleston; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-stepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, parents, one stepgrandson and two brothers.
