Llewellyn A. `Butch` Barton, 81, of Energy passed away at 1:10 PM, August 15, 2004 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Barton was born on June 7, 1923 in Cressonna, Pennsylvania to Reverend Paul and Ruth F. (Hoffman) Barton. He married Frances Tanner on June 16, 1946 in Alameda, California and she survives. Other survivors include daughter, Beverly Roland of Carterville; grandchildren, Jeanie and Monte Blue of Marion, Jack and Dana Roland of Carterville, Mike and Julie Roland of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Brian and Michele Roland of Cambria; great grandchildren, Chris Blue, Kelli Blue, Nikki Roland and Levi Lacy, Brandon Roland, Jessica Roland, Cody Roland, Shane Roland, Ty Roland, Brian Roland, Jr. and Sean Roland; great great granddaughter, Lexis Lacy; brother, Mark Barton of Bellport, New York; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, C. L. `Bud` Roland; two brothers, Paul Barton and Lawrence Barton; sister, Evangeline Kinder, and an infant sister. Mr. Barton was a member of the Energy United Methodist Church. He was involved with the Eagle House Ministries in Goreville, was a Methodist Lay Minister, and a member of the United Methodist Men`s Association. He worked as a tool and dye maker at Norge in Herrin. He served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed helping others and was skilled in woodworking. He loved to travel and meet people.
