E. Ray Aldrich, Galesburg Chapel 82, of Galesburg entered the gates of Heaven at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011.
He was born February 7, 1928 in Greensburg, Ind. the son of Roy Millard and Minnie Mae Thorpe Aldrich. He married Ruth Marie Baylis on April 18, 1947 in Greensburg, Ind. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Nick (Jeanie) Aldrich of Paducah, Ky., Rev. Joel (Katherine) Aldrich and Jeff (Becky) Aldrich, both of Galesburg; two daughters, Nancy (David) Jozwick and Angela (Kenny) Mahnesmith, Jr., both of Galesburg; a brother, Roy M. Aldrich, Jr. of Connersville, Ind; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harrel Aldrich, infant sister, Mae Maxine and a grandson, David Ray Jozwick.
Rev. Aldrich served as Pastor for the First Apostolic Tabernacle Church, Galesburg, Ill. for over 41 years. In his early ministry, he assisted and pastored in five other locations including: Greensburg, Ind., North Vernon, Ind., Rushville, Ind., Connersville, Ind. and Grayville, Ill. He was also involved in starting a new work in Princeton, Ind. He graduated from high school in Greensburg, Ind. in 1946 and received a Doctorate Degree in Theology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He served for several years as the Home Missions Director and Secretary-Treasurer for Section Nine of the Illinois District of the United Pentecostal Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the First Apostolic Tabernacle Church, 562 W. North St. Rev. Joel Aldrich will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
