Mrs. Charlotte Apple of Keyesport Dies At Vandalia Hospital
Services To Be Held Tuesday Afternoon
Mrs. Charlotte Apple of Keyesport, 74, widow of Louis Apple and a sister of Mrs. Wm. Bevis of this city, died at Fayette County Hospital at 9:15 a.m. Sunday where she had been a patient since November 1 and where she underwent surgery. She had been in failing health the last two years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Keyesport Baptist Church, the Rev. Ira Mallory officiating, burial will follow in Duncan cemetery. The body is at the Donnell Funeral Home in this city where friends may call until noon Tuesday and then at the church until time of the services.
Mrs. Apple's maiden name was Charlotte Angeline Woods, daughter of Andrew and Sarah (Welch) Woods and she was born August 17, 1876 in Tamalco township. She was aged 74 years, 3 months and 3 days. On December 25, 1906 she married Louis Apple. Surviving this union are; one daughter, Lovenia, wife of Fred Boatright of Carlyle and 2 sons, Herschel of Keyesport and Bert of Posen, Cook county, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters, the above mentioned Mrs. William Bevis, Mrs. Walter Barth of Keyesport and Mrs. James Emery of Detroit and one brother, Ed Woods of Granite City.
A son Burl preceded his mother in death and Mr. Apple died October 16, 1945. Two sisters, Lillie Ennen and Mrs. Ella McClaren and two brothers, John Woods and William Woods have also passed away.
Mrs. Apple was a member of the Keyesport Baptist Church.
