Alfred Franklin Cadle, 47, was found dead near a barn at the Tom Handlin farm, near Eldred, where he had succumbed while doing farm chores at an early hours Saturday Morning. He had been under physicians care for a heart ailment.

He was born in Richmond, Va., August 4, 1900 and came to Greene county in early childhood with his parents, the late James F. and Dora McAfee Cadle. He served 11 months with the armed forces during World War II.

Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. Fred Clark of Galesburg and Mrs. Lee Moneyhon of Hildebrant, Mo., a brother Loren of Clinton, Ind.; four half-brothers, Jimmy Cadle of East Alton; Andrew of California; John of Wyoming; and George of Eldred; and three half-sisters, Mrs. Ray Gilman of Springfield; Mrs. Hale Abernathy of St. Louis, Mo.; and Alice Gauss.

Funeral servces were conducted by the Rev. Robert Wagener at the Baptist church in Eldred Monday afternoon. Chrles R. Smith and Miss Zerilda Bushnell sang.

Burial was in Dayton cemetery, south of Eldred, with military rites conducted by the Greene County American Legion.

Pallbearers, all veterans of World War II, were Arnold Hyde, Newell Trusty, Billy McClasson, Herbert Geisler, Harold Gilberson and Harold Clendenen. Caring for the flowers were Frances Brannan, June Hardwick, Joan Brannan, Shirley Goans, Imogene Flowers and Imogene Schofield.
