Agness Carr, daughter of William Carr and Elizabeth nee Armstrong Carr of Carlisle, Cumberland, England, was christened on December 23, 1821 at St. Mary's Church in that town. She emigrated with her father and four siblings, Mary Ann, Charlotte Elizabeth, William, Jr., and Stephen, along with other relatives from the Lakes country of England, to Newport, Rhode Island in August of 1841, and to Mercer County, Illinois the following year.
She married Alexander Davis on June 6, 1852 in Mercer County, Illinois, and died shortly after giving birth to twins, October 26, 1853.
