GRAVEMARKER IS A MARBLE OBELISK ABOUT 3'-4'HIGH IN CENTER OF GRAVE FIELD.

CURLEE CEMETERY IS LOCATED IN PERRY COUNTY ILLINOIS APPROXIMATELY 2.5 MILES NORTH OF TAMAROA ON US-51 THEN WEST ON RAVEN ROAD .25 MILE. GPS: 38 10'42.00"N-89 14'09.55"W

INFO ON GRAVEMARKER INDICATES DATE OF DEATH AND HE WAS 55-YEARS 4-MONTHS OLD, (THUS BIRTHDATE OF JAN 1816.)
(INTERESTINGLY, L.J's WILL WAS MADE OUT ONE DAY BEFORE HE DIED. REASON OF DEATH CURRENTLY UNKNOWN.)

L.J. BRIDGES HELPED LAY OUT THE TOWN OF DUBOIS, IL IN 1853.
(PER "HISTORY OF DUBOIS PRECINCT")
(NOTE: DUBOIS WAS ORIGINALLY NAMED "COLOMA" AND THE NAME APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CHANGED ON APRIL 1, 1869.
ALSO, DUBOIS IS SOMETIMES LISTED AS "BOIS" OR "DU BOIS".)

L.J. WAS A FARMER, WITH FARM GROUND WEST OF DUBOIS, IL ALONG DUBOIS BLACKTOP ROAD. PROBATE RECORDS INDICATE L.J. HAD AQUIRED AROUND 511 ACRES OF FARM GROUND PLUS ABOUT 60 LOTS IN THE TOWN OF DUBOIS IN WASHINGTON COUNTY BY THE TIME OF HIS DEATH.

PARENTS OF L.J. BELIEVED TO BE HENRY 1794-1853 & SARAH ????.

HENRY'S BIRTH SURNAME WAS PROBABLY "BRIDGER" BUT CHANGED AFTER REVOLUTIONARY WAR, (PROBABLY DUE TO NAME BEING ASSOCIATED AS BRITISH.)

THE STORY IS JOHN, TYRE C, AND HENRY BRIDGES (3-BROTHERS) APPARENTLY CAME TO ILLINOIS FROM NORTH CAROLINA VIA TENNESSEE AND KENTUCKY AROUND 1830, ORIGINALLY SETTLING IN
BOTH WASHINGTON COUNTY NEAR DUBOIS, IL AND A FEW MILES SOUTH IN PERRY COUNTY, IL JUST NORTH OF TAMAROA, IL.
