Lois was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Lodi, Ind., to Frank and Emma (Switzer) Gardner. She attended South Dakota, Iowa and Ridge Farm schools.
Lois owned and operated Lary's Tavern in Westville for several years. She also was a bookkeeper for Walgreens and a desk clerk at the Sheridan Inn.
Lois married Melvin Acord on Feb. 2, 1957, in Westville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1998.
She enjoyed garage sales, playing euchre and 21, and going to the horse races.
Lois leaves behind three children, Pat Keller of Danville, Brenda (William) Marron of Fort Myers, Fla., and John Wilder of Jennings, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her seven brothers and sisters, Paul, Ben, Robert and Noble Gardner, Alice Parliament, Joyce Froman and Helen Coleman; two children, Ken Hoult and Loretta Adams; a grandson, Mark Terrell; a great-grandson, Phillip Kollar; and a great-great-grandson, Payne Goulding.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, with Pastor Scott McCurdy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
