Jane (also seen as Janna) was the daughter of German immigrants, Jan Harbers Swalve and Hiske Borcherts, who married in Germany.

She married Ben (Berend) Borcherts in Stephenson Conty, Illinois on 25 April 1887.

Note: Jane's married name, and her mother's maiden name are the same. It's possible that the Borchert families from Germany knew one another, but at this point, the connection is unknown (18 June 2021).

Times-Leader, May 1, 1947. Jane was born March 7, 1862, in Ridott, Stephenson County, Illinois, and died April 23, 1947 in a hospital in McLeansboro.
