Richard A. Akers, 53, Rt. 3, Lawrenceville, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 1987, in Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Emmons-Macey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville with Rev. Monte Vincent presiding. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Crest Haven Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Kidney Foundation.
Mr. Akers was born April 20, 1934, in Williamsburg, Va., the son of Edward and Virginia (Myers) Akers. He married Eloise Judy and she survives.
He was self-employed as the owner of Akers Saw Mill and Pallet Shop. He was a member of the Island Free Methodist Church.
Survivors, beside his wife, include two sons, Artie Akers, Salem, and Jimmie Akers, Lawrenceville; a daughter, Judy Clark, Birds; a brother, Robert Akers, Lawrenceville; two sisters, JoAnne Wells, Lawrenceville, and Dorothy Camp, Highland; his mother, Virginia Akers; and five grandchildren.
