|Birth: ||Dec. 7, 1858|
|Death: ||Sep. 26, 1861|
Son of Theodore Montee and his wife Nancy (nee Brundage, widow of Joel Edmonston). This child's infant sister, Rosetta, is also interred in this cemetery.
Parents of this child: Theodore Commodore Montee was originally from New York State. He and Nancy Edmonston (the daughter of Soloman and Mary Brundage) were married Nov. 24, 1853 in McDonough County.
Theodore Montee was a farmer in Bethel Township. The 1870 census documents that he and his wife were the parents of these living children: George (1856), James (1862), Mary Elizabeth (1863), Francis (1867), Anna (1866), Elmer (1870). Other records available on ancestry.com state that the child Elmer died in 1873, and that a baby Dora, lived from Sep. 7, 1873 to Nov 28, 1874. Twins Delmer and Della were born in McDonough County Feb 4, 1876. Della died July 15, 1876.
Sometime after 1876, Theodore and Nancy Montee relocated to Kansas joining some of his brothers and other neighbors from Bethel County.
This burial is documented by Duane Lester's, "Rural Cemeteries of McDonough County, Illinois, Volume II, Bethel-Industry."
Lester reports an inscription which read: "Joseph M, son of T.C. & Nancy; d. Sep 26, 1861, age 2y 9m 20d." I did not locate a stone despite a careful search in March 2008, likely due to general poor condition of this cemetery and the existing stones. His sister Rosetta's stone is pictured on her biography in this cemetery.
Additional biographical information comes from census records, vital statistics, and marriage records from Ancestry.com and the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index.
