He attended Cherokee High School and enlisted in the Army Feb. 4, 2000, serving basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. He also attended Advanced Individual Training at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. He was currently a Pfc. with C Company 101st Avn., 8th Regmt. Ft. Campbell, KY, where he served as an auto test equipment maintenance operator.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Amanda Michelle Barton; paternal grandparents, Doc and Marion Barton; and maternal grandparents, Andy and Alene Heck.
He is survived by his parents, George Tommy and Shirley Barton, Rogersville; four brothers, Johnny, Curtis, Daniel and Brandon Barton, all of Rogersville; a sister, Jennifer Riggs, Bulls Gap, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, and at their convenience at the residence, 116 Charles Street, Rogersville.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday following the visitation, with a chaplain from Ft. Campbell, KY, officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Elm Springs Cemetery by Ft. Campbell, KY.
